1803 Stephan's mother Rhode Coonrod dies in Kentucky
Stephan is 6 years old.
1800 Candis Lee is born in South Carolina. Her father is Edmond Lee.
1809 Stephan's father George marries Lidia Ann Fendurds in Ky.
1812 The war of 1812 starts. Coonrods fight the British.
Stephan is 14 years old.
1812 In May 1812, an act of Congress was passed which set aside bounty
lands as payment to volunteer soldiers for the War against the
British (War of 1812). The land was set aside in the present states
of Arkansas, Michigan and Illinois. The tract was surveyed in 1815-
1816 and opened to settlement. Many Coonrod adults and their older
children received these Military land grants.
1812 Stephan Coonrod Baptized.
1818 Stephan Coonrod (20) and Candis Lee (18) are married in Hardin co Ky.
1818 Stephan is Justice of the Piece and signs Edmond Lee's will.
1818 Candis' father, Edmund Lee Dies.
1819 Stephan and Candis inherit $336.00 from Edmond Lee's estate.
1919 George and sons Stephan, Henry, John and families move to Wayne County Ill.
George may have also had a son named Thomas.
1820 Census shows Stephan and family in Illinois.

1823 Son Jefferson Coonrod is born
1827 Son George W Coonrod is born
1828 Stephan becomes a Baptist Preacher
1829 Moved from Wayne Co IL to Green Co Il. with family
Bought 40 acres and built a small cabin.
1830 Daughter Isabel is born
1831 The Blackhawk war (1831-1832) Stephans sons fight.
1832 Son Edmond G. Coonrod is born
1832 The Blackhawk War starts. Coonrods fight Indians.
The Battle of Bad Axe was the lastIndian-American battle fought
east of the Mississippi River. After realizing the futility of
fighting the U.S. troops, Black Hawk's British Band of Sauk
attempted to escape across the Mississippi River. At this point
the last battle began, resulting in the deaths of nearly 150 of
Black Hawk's followers.

1835 Stephan purchases 3 adjacent 40 acre parcels and builds a big house and
moves his family in.
1836 Stephan donates 40 acres for Coonrod Park and builds a Baptist church.
This land later becomes Oakwood Cematary. It was originaly called
Coonrod Cematary.
1836 Stephan's daughter Annis dies at birth. First person buried in Oakwood.
1837 Son Stephan M. is born
1839 Son Christopher C. is born
1841 Daughter Nancy Ann is born
1843 Daughter Emily is born
1846 The Mexican War (1846-1848)
1848 The Mormon War starts. Madison L. Coonrod fights the Mormons.
1850 Stephan's father George Coonrod dies before 1850 and is buried in Oakwood.
1862 The Civil War Starts. Coonrods fight on both sides. The Confederate
Coonrods move to Fannin Texas.

1872 Stephan Coonrod dies of Small Pox. Buried in Oakwood Cemetary.
1879 Candis Lee Coonrod dies Nov. 17 at her son Jeffersons home and is
buried in Oakwood. She was 80 years old.
1885 Son Stephan M. Coonrod died and is buried Oakwood
1888 Son George W Coonrod, Sheriff of Green County, died, buried in Oakwood.
1904 Son Stephan Marian Coonrod died in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He had been married to Bettie B. Chilton, of Medora Il.
1998 The steps of the original church are still standing in Oakwood Cemetary, Greenfield Il.
